Sudasha Vrat Katha In Odia
Sudasha Vrat rules/bidhi - this is a special vrat of Odisha dedicated to Goddess Lakhsmi. It is performed when all three fall on the same day, ie, month of shravan, Shukla Pakhya, dasami Thursday. This is done by the married women of Odisa for prosperity of their family. They tie a thread called brata on their right arm after putting 10 knots in the thread. While creating these knots they used to take 10 different names of Goddess Lakshmi. As we all know Goddess Lakshmi is the Godddess of cleanliness. She love to stay in the place where it is cleaned.
To impress the Goddess, women used to make chitta/jhoti/rangoli/alpana designs all over the house after cleaning. This jhoti batter is done mixing paste of rice grains and water in a specific consistency.
Women used to wake up early in the morning, take shower, wear white saris with red borders use alta in both of their feets.
Place kalash near the Goddess. Mata Laskmi is well decorated with marigold flowers after cleaning her with panchamrit,chandan(sandal wood),sindoor(vermillion) nad new clothes.
A ghee lamp and few incense sticks are lighted to make the environment more auspicious.
A special dish called manda is made by the women to offer the Goddess.
There is a significance of 10 in this Sudasa brata. Starting from flowers nad mandas, everything is offered in 10 numbers.
After all the paraphernalia is being done below Sudasha Vrat Katha is then read.
